In 1982, he made his debut as a key animator on the [Space Adventure Cobra](https://anilist.co/anime/2452/) film, and later also contributed in [Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind](https://anilist.co/anime/572/) uncredited. He has since been wanted on many theatrical films, from [Akira](https://anilist.co/anime/47/) to most of [Studio Ghibli](https://anilist.co/studio/21/)'s films. Due to this it has been a rarity to see him show up on TV productions. He has been called the "Legendary Effects Giant" by [Mahiro Maeda](https://anilist.co/staff/100392/).
