During the closing era of the Bakumatsu, a wandering mercenary named Yojiro Akizuki travels throughout Japan. He uses his sword not only for combat but also to track down supernatural artifacts, pursuing them with unwavering focus, often leading to violent outcomes. On his journey, he encounters a traveling theater troupe whose members harbor their own hidden motives.
