A baby girl is abandoned at an orphanage called the "Pony Home," found with a doll labeled "Candy" and left during a snowstorm. The sisters name her Candy, combining the doll's name with the storm's origin. She grows up lively and mischievous, enjoying climbing and roughhousing.
