Gegege no Kitarou (1996)

A ghost named Kitarou uses his abilities to assist humans and stop malevolent spirits from causing harm. When his friend Megumi's father, a botanist, is taken hostage by evil spirits on Baruru Island after going there to study plants, Kitarou steps in to rescue him.
