Kappa no Kaikata

A man buys a kappa from a pet shop and names it Kaatan. He has no prior experience with kappas and uses a book to guide him in their care and training. The book suggests simple methods for raising a well-behaved kappa, but applying them proves difficult. Kaatan initially appears to understand instructions but often forgets or ignores them. Despite the challenges, the man remains patient and continues trying to train Kaatan, hoping to turn it into a satisfactory pet.
