Amon, a young boy with unusual abilities, is the son of a scientist who worked for the Empire of the Golden Snake. His father, who once developed weapons for the empire, destroys his research to prevent Amon's powers from being used for warfare and attempts to flee the country with his family. His parents are killed during the escape, leaving Amon alone. He evades the military and reaches an island where he discovers a connection to an ancient people who could communicate with animals and travel with the wind—abilities he also possesses. Amon later joins a fishing village and befriends Maria. When the village is attacked by the empire's forces, they flee with a group of rebels.
