Humanity has expanded to other planets, but an alien species called Victim attacks, reducing human settlements to a single planet named Zion. To defend against further destruction, the GOA training school is established to recruit boys from Zion with the rare EO blood type and a special ability known as EX. These candidates are trained to pilot the Ingrids, five powerful robots referred to as The Goddesses. One such recruit, Candidate 88, accidentally enters the cockpit of Ingrid Eeva-Leena. Due to the delicate synchronization process, it is feared the robot may reject him. However, just before losing consciousness, he achieves a complete synch. Before he can learn more about this unusual event, he begins his pilot training.
