Nezumikozou Jirokichi

A short film created in tribute to filmmaker Sadao Yamanaka, it features Nezumi Kozō Jirokichi, a noble thief who steals from the rich to aid the poor in Edo at night. The story includes Suzu, a widow struggling to raise her child, and Bonji, Yasugoro, and Chogoro, who attempt to uncover the thief’s identity through Suzu. Kan’emon, a seasoned detective who despises crime but cares for people, also appears. The film reflects Yamanaka’s vision. It premiered at the first Niigata International Anime Festival on March 20, 2023.
