After losing his arm while attempting to rescue a cat from a tree, he encounters Kurashina Saya, a girl who discovers his missing limb. Saya is also a supernatural being, part of a family of Ghouls known for their appetite for humanoid flesh. Despite their differences, a potential romantic connection forms between them.
