A manga adaptation of a thriller by Keigo Higashino follows Jun Naruse, a quiet electronics worker with a passion for painting. He meets Megumi at an art store, and they begin a close relationship. While searching for a new apartment, Jun is at a real estate office when it is attacked. During the incident, he shields a child from a gunshot, sacrificing himself. After a month, Jun awakens to learn that half his brain was destroyed and replaced with a donated portion. Initially recovering well, he soon experiences changes in his behavior. The story questions whether these changes stem from the brain transplant or from his medication.
