Ikigami

A message is sent to a citizen announcing that they have been randomly chosen to die within 24 hours. The letter claims that society is in decline due to apathy and laziness, and that the government is addressing this by selecting one person daily for execution as a reminder of life's value. The recipient is informed of their selection and given a short time before their death. The work was nominated for the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2009.
