Mizuki recounts his childhood in the 1930s in Sakaiminato, a small coastal town in southwest Japan. The story, filled with nostalgia, portrays his early life in a simple family, his friendships, school experiences, and initial romantic feelings. A key figure in the narrative is NonNonBa, an elderly woman known for her superstitions and mystical beliefs. Through her, Shigeru learns about yokai and other supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore. The work received the Best Album award at the 2007 Angoulême International Comics Festival.
