In 2015, mysterious beings known as Angels reappear, threatening the planet. Shinji Ikari, a fourteen-year-old boy, is compelled by his father, Gendo, to pilot a massive biomechanical unit called Evangelion. Gendo leads NERV, a covert organization tasked with countering the Angels' power. Shinji's role is to operate this weapon in battle against the Angel forces.
