Shinanogawa
しなの川
In a rural Japanese region during the Showa era, harsh winters, poor harvests, and wolf attacks create difficult living conditions. Young girls face limited futures, often forced into brothels or factories. Amid these challenges, Takano Yukie, a young and attractive woman, seeks to carve her own path. Her journey questions the prevailing moral standards of the time. The story, based on a novel by Okazaki Hideo, uses striking and sensually evocative visuals by Kamimura Kazuo. Originally published in 1973 with the first 13 chapters, the complete series was later compiled into three volumes in 2005.
