A city exists where both scientifically enhanced students and practitioners of real magic coexist. A boy named Kamijyo Touma possesses a unique ability in his right hand that cancels out magic, psychic phenomena, divine powers, and his own fortune. One day, he discovers a girl clinging to his balcony. She is a nun affiliated with the Church of England, and her mind contains the Index Librorum Prohibitorum, a compilation of magical texts the Church has suppressed.
