An alien organism arrives on Earth in 2016, killing 20% of the population within a month. Those who survive are either mutated into creatures known as "Worms" or transformed into enhanced individuals called "Heteros." A group of Heteros establishes the "ISO" to combat the Worms. Haru, a young Hetero with a mischievous nature, seeks to join the ISO and participate in the conflict, though the path to doing so proves difficult.
