Ep. 1: Kouichi Sakakibara relocates to Yomiyama and encounters Mei Misaki in class 3

Kouichi Sakakibara moves to Yomiyama to live with his grandparents because of his father's employment, but he is soon hospitalized for a collapsed lung. A month later, he joins class 3 of the 9th grade at Yomiyama North Middle School. He becomes interested in Mei Misaki, a girl wearing an eyepatch whom he had previously met by chance in the hospital. Although his classmates welcome him warmly, they all seem unwilling to acknowledge her existence. This mysterious behavior intrigues Kouichi, creating a strange dynamic as he attempts to understand the social exclusion surrounding Mei Misaki within his new school environment.
