This episode continues the adaptation of Osamu Dazai's novel No Longer Human, exploring Oba's childhood friendships and the onset of his delusions regarding a ghostly alter ego. Following a hospital stay, Oba is confronted by police and journalists who inform him that his father has disowned him and placed him under the supervision of a family friend to prevent further suicide attempts. He is subsequently confined to a room and forbidden from leaving the house. Later, he encounters a reporter woman and, in a shift from his previous isolation, accepts an invitation to stay at her residence, effectively leaving his ghostly persona behind.
