Aoi Hitomi no Onnanoko no Ohanashi

A village in the southern Japanese prefecture of Kochi during World War II is home to a young girl named Eiko, who has recently moved from Yokohama. Eiko possesses blue eyes inherited from her American father, which leads to her being bullied by her classmates. Most adults in the village also share the children's negative views, influenced by wartime propaganda and the loss of loved ones. Eiko's homeroom teacher, Akiko, is an exception, treating her with more understanding. A classmate named Kenta is more curious than hostile toward Eiko. The village experiences shifts in daily life as a wounded soldier returns and further reports of casualties arrive.
