Ep. 1: Kirigakure Saizo escorts priestess Isanami to Ueda, leading to a trap and dark revelation.

Wandering ninja Kirigakure Saizo saves priestess Isanami and agrees to escort her to Ueda after she buys him soba noodles. Upon arrival, Saizo fights Sarutobi Sasuke until Isanami intervenes, revealing her desire to meet Yukimura Sanada. She explains that her shrine was destroyed and she is the sole survivor, aided by the High Priest to seek Yukimura's aid. Yukimura refuses to fight the 'fox' but allows her to stay. Isanami convinces Saizo to join her, and they fall into a trap set by her pursuers, which Yukimura orchestrated to catch them. Saizo fights off the attackers, but Isanami unleashes a mysterious dome of darkness that devours them, an event she does not recall. Yukimura offers her protection, and she persuades him to hire Saizo, who reluctantly agrees after Isanami reminds him of the debt. Yukimura later tells Rokurou he needs ten more men, prompting an attack on eavesdropping Saizo that leaves him unconscious. The next morning, Saizo wakes to find Isanami in his futon.
