During navigational training in the asteroid belt, Captain Future and his crew receive a transmission sent 100 million years in the future from a planet that has already been destroyed. In response to this distress signal, Captain Future decides to invent a time machine that will allow them to travel back in time to the past. This decision is made to investigate the origin of the message and the fate of the distant world, leading the crew to prepare for a journey to SOS 1 billion years ago.
