A massive alien vessel crashes onto South Ataria island in 1999. Efforts to reconstruct it lead to political tensions, sparking a global conflict known as the Unification Wars. A decade later, with the war concluded and a unified Earth government established, the rebuilt ship is ready for launch. During the ceremony, the ship's main cannon activates unexpectedly, destroying another alien craft. This event initiates a war between the ship's human crew and the Zentradi, a race of large humanoid aliens.
