Chuuka Ichiban!

In 19th-century China during the Qing Dynasty, a time of political instability known as "The Era of the Cooking Wars," chefs of various styles compete to be the greatest in the land. Cooking is taken seriously, with severe consequences for disrespecting a top chef or tampering with food. The nation is divided into four regions: Beijing, Szechuan, Shanghai, and Guangdong. The story begins in Szechuan, where a boy named Mao, whose mother was a renowned chef known as the 'Fairy of Cuisine,' seeks to become a Super Chef and eventually take over her restaurant. Before doing so, he travels across China to learn different cooking methods and aims to become a legendary chef like his mother. Along the way, he encounters allies and opponents who challenge him in culinary competitions.
