Rain forces Hayate to return to a bookstore where he left a new plastic umbrella. Souma joins him in the search, leading to an encounter with Takayuki. Overcome by this literary connection, Hayate abandons his original goal and exits the store without the umbrella. Upon re-entering from the rain, he is handed his forgotten item by an individual who is also holding a shoe horn, adding a strange detail to the encounter.
