The city of Cassardis is depicted as being in a state of complete ruin. Following this destruction, a magical Pawn character brings Ethan back to life. Upon reviving, Ethan makes a solemn vow to seek revenge against those responsible for the devastation. He subsequently begins a determined quest with the specific goal of slaying the dragon that was responsible for destroying his world and causing the widespread damage observed in the city.
