Gintoki Sakata is away, and the Yorozuya has chosen Kintoki, a golden-haired doppelgänger, as their new leader. Struggling to reclaim his role, Gintoki must rely on others, though they no longer remember him. The group travels to the Yoshiwara red-light district to assist an elderly courtesan searching for her lost lover. Despite the district's changed conditions, the Yorozuya discovers lingering hardships among its residents. Through flashbacks, they learn of enduring love and work to protect it. The series blends action with the group's typical humor.
