In August 1581, Hideyoshi besieges Tottori Castle while Hashiba Hidenaga and Soeki secretly negotiate with him. Hideyoshi agrees to overthrow Nobunaga, who commands Takayama Ukon, Sasuke’s brother-in-law, to deliver Ise steeds. Sasuke discusses three tea jars with Ukon before Hideyoshi presents eight masterpieces for selection. Sasuke chooses a teascoop by Shutoku but substitutes it with his own creation. Hideyoshi delivers this item to Mitsuhide, attempting to incite rebellion by feigning injury and weeping to manipulate Mitsuhide’s emotions during the tense political maneuvering.
