Kakeru enters the lead pack, racing against exchange students from powerful schools, while Shindo and Yuki strive for official times using their unique strengths. On the final lap, Haiji's question, "Do you like running?" triggers a breakthrough, allowing Kakeru to achieve an astonishing time. Post-race, Shinjitsu Weekly reporter Shuji Mochizuki approaches the group, revealing knowledge of Kakeru's prestigious high school track background. Haiji then organizes a training camp at Lake Shirakaba, where Tokyo Sport Uni is also present. During this session, Haiji provides continued encouragement. Provoked by memories of his past, Kakeru is driven to sprint forward, confronting his former high school teammate Sakaki to release his pent-up emotions.
