In the 21st century, as pollution grew severe, scientists introduced hydrogen-based technology as a replacement for fossil fuels. Humanity began colonizing Mars due to overpopulation. By 2050, an alien species known as the Inbit invaded Earth. Humans were unable to resist the Inbit, leading to widespread devastation and the scattering of the population. Many survivors fled to the Moon using remaining spacecraft. The Inbit established their primary base in the Great Lakes region of North America, which they named "Reflex Point."
