A high school girl named Mitsuha Miyamizu dreams of living as a boy in Tokyo, contrasting with her rural life. Taki Tachibana, a Tokyo high school student, balances school, work, and aspirations in architecture. One day, Mitsuha wakes in Taki's body in the city, while Taki finds himself in Mitsuha's life in the countryside. They attempt to understand this situation and search for each other.
