Katagiri Kanade is a reclusive individual who spends most of her time in her room, relying on her vivid imagination to escape reality. After encountering a cowboy figure in a dream who calls himself her heart's hero, she decides to take a step out of her comfort zone and get a haircut. At the park, she meets a mysterious man who cuts her hair, giving her the confidence to return to school. There, she runs into Sudou Yukio, a former classmate and someone she once had feelings for. Kanade lives with her non-biological brother, Sonomura Ikuto. Ignoring his concerns, she seeks out the hairdresser again and meets Hasui Tomoomi, a professional stylist who runs a nearby salon called Azalea. Her homeroom teacher, Konno Chihiro, also offers to help her catch up on schoolwork. With these new people in her life, Kanade faces an uncertain but changing future.
