Years ago, Kenji Tomosaka met a crying girl playing with hermit crabs on a beach after he placed one on her head. He later discovered she was his new neighbor, Nanami Konoe, whose balcony was close enough for him to jump across. In the present, Kenji wakes from a strange dream and goes to wake Nanami. He finds her trapped between her bed and the wall, helping her free herself. This interaction marks the beginning of their story as close childhood friends living in the same coastal town.
