William Twining, an orphan from one of Britain's oldest noble families, returns home upon learning his tuition remains unpaid. He discovers his uncle, the sole heir to the estate, has vanished after declaring bankruptcy. While searching the house for funds to cover his education, William accidentally uncovers a concealed basement. Inside, he inadvertently summons a demon named Dantalion. The demon reveals that William holds the title of Elector, identifying him as the unique individual capable of appointing an interim leader for Hell.
