Lawyer Hiroki Oi asks the Mouri family to investigate the mysterious death of Takeshi Yamaoka, which occurred two weeks ago and is rumored to be caused by the curse of Urashima Taro. During the train journey to Kyoto Prefecture to meet the client, Kanta Tsuji, the family discusses the Urashima Taro fairytale. In the story, Urashima Taro is taken to the Dragon King's palace by a sea turtle he rescued and becomes the main guest at a gratitude party. Upon returning to his village, he discovers that several centuries have passed and all his friends and family have died. Ran wonders specifically what the curse of Urashima Taro entails.
