Kogoro Mouri visits Beika University for a speech, accompanied by Ran, Sonoko, and Conan. Sonsaku Tsujiei, a fourth-year student, requests Kogoro evaluate a haunted house's realism. While Kogoro delays, the trio explores the attraction with escorts Sonsaku and Hachiya Kiichi, who attempt to frighten them. Inside the operating room section, Anna Tadami plays a patient but fails to complete her role. Upon discovering she is unresponsive, Conan determines she has been poisoned with cyanide.
