While waiting for Eri, Conan and Ran encounter Sera, who is investigating Rumi Kitao’s boyfriend, Kenya Settsu, for adultery. Believing Kenya will target Ran, Sera directs the pair to approach the couple under the guise of seeking a meal. Kenya ignores Ran and instead asks her to help Rumi wake his ex-girlfriend, Waka. When no one answers at the apartment, Rumi and Ran use a key to enter. Ran discovers Waka on the bathroom floor, but she collapses after inhaling chloroform present in the air.
