Chokai, son of the distinguished Chokai Conglomerate family, hires Kogoro to locate his missing fiancée. Kogoro and Conan uncover that she contacted her landlady to announce a move and her boss to resign. The investigation leads them to Shigemi, an elderly woman who was the last person to see Motoko. While Kogoro concludes that Shigemi murdered Motoko to remove her from the situation, Conan suspects the case is progressing with suspicious ease.
