Mirai ni Mukete: Bousai wo Kangaeru

Produced by the Tohoku Regional Development Association to promote earthquake awareness, the film is divided into two segments. The first part is set in the 1970s and 1980s in Fudai village, following the mayor, Kotoku Wamura, as he advocates for a floodgate and seawall project, citing past earthquakes and tsunamis. The project, completed as the tallest floodgate in Tohoku, helped protect Fudai during the 2011 tsunami. The second part focuses on elementary school students in Kamaishi City during the 2011 disaster, highlighting their disaster preparedness training. It features "Tsunami Tendenko," a local practice encouraging individuals to move to higher ground independently, which the children demonstrate to their parents.
