Ep. 9: Natori searches for the sealed Houzukigami god before the decennial Moon-Splitting Festival begins.
Natori must locate and break the seal on Houzukigami, a deity essential for the Moon-Splitting Festival held every 10 years against Fuzukigami. This event determines the mountain youkai's harvest fortune, and Fuzukigami claims victory by default if Houzukigami is absent, leading to barren lands. Natori discovers Natsume disguised as Houzukigami, having been recruited by the god's servants. The contest involves capturing a released beast. While servants hunt the creature, they instruct Natsume to find the real Houzukigami. Natori, Hiiragi, Nyanko-sensei, and a servant search a waterfall building. The beast attacks, knocking Natsume and Hiiragi into the river. After recovering, they are trapped by Fuzukigami's servants. An unconscious servant detects a human scent on Natsume, raising doubts about his divine identity.
