Upon arriving in Virbank City, Ash, Iris, and Cilan learn about the local history from Cilan. They encounter their friend Luke, a filmmaker accompanied by his Zorua. Luke intends to participate in the Pokéstar Studios Movie contest and requests assistance from the group to produce a movie featuring the Unova Defense Force. His goal is to outshine his rival, director Jules, who is supported by his Krookodile. The team collaborates on this cinematic project amidst the city's backdrop.
