During gym class, Ash and his friends compete in vaulting exercises. The following day, an Ultra Beast called Stakataka arrives in Alola. The group initially confuses the creature for a large vaulting box. Upon realizing its true nature, they activate their roles as the Ultra Guardians. They attempt to capture Stakataka using a Beast Ball but fail several times. Eventually, the Ultra Beast understands that the heroes intend to assist it. Stakataka consents to be captured so it can be sent back to its home world. This resolution allows the team to successfully return the creature to its origin after their initial misunderstanding and subsequent efforts to communicate their helpful intentions.
