Seth, Melie, and Yaga discuss the inquisition’s morality. A soldier under Captain Dragunov questions his leader’s carefree nature. The squad answers an emergency call from Captain Edmund’s group, which was attacked by a Nemesis. They find Edmund only needs air-ship repairs and has released the Nemesis to prioritize transporting imprisoned sorcerers. Dragunov’s team pursues the Nemesis, saving the targeted village. Upon return, they expose Edmund’s cowardice and his scheme to arrest ordinary people as sorcerers for promotion.

Seth and Melie consider a broom race for ten million dimes at the Artemis festival.

During a festival in Artemis, Seth and Melie contemplate entering a broom race to win ten million dimes. Seth encounters Nick, the champion of previous broom races, who mocks Alma and dares Seth to win the race to prove his teacher's worth. Despite the challenge, Seth loses the competition because he abandons the race to save competitors who are falling. This decision results in his defeat, highlighting his prioritization of safety over victory in the high-stakes event.

The Doc Accepts a Nemesis Hunt in Rumble Town to Impress Miss Melba

Struggling with debt, the doc seeks employment and encounters a request to hunt a Nemesis in Rumble Town. Although Seth and Melie urge him to accept, he initially refuses due to fear. To impress Miss Melba, he changes his mind and travels to the location with his companions. During the hunt, they are attacked by a sorcerer named The Grimm, who mistakenly believes they are allied with the Nemesis. The commotion caused by this confrontation leads to Seth and Melie being reported to Captain Konrad, the official in charge of Rumble Town.

Captain Dragunov informs Captain Konrad that superiors have ordered them to overlook the disturbances caused by Seth and his companions. Concurrently, Seth, Melie, and the doctor infiltrate Zeda’s residence, the source of their Nemesis hunt request. Taj, a boy who survived a Nemesis encounter with a curse, leads them to the specific location of his experience. The group waits for the area to evacuate before the Echo Nemesis begins to manifest. They successfully capture three of these entities, but are subsequently attacked by The Grimm.
