Picolet Chardin, a French nobleman, arrives at Soun and Genma’s residence to settle a longstanding debt. He demands that one of their daughters become his bride as payment. Because Ranma was previously defeated by Chardin during a battle involving martial arts and dining, she volunteers to face him. Ranma hopes this confrontation will provide an opportunity for revenge against the nobleman who bested her in their earlier encounter.
