Ep. 1: Meta-Real technology fails during artificial island construction due to burning sea phenomenon

An unexplained event called the burning sea halts the building of an artificial island. Masamichi Haru suffers severe injuries from this phenomenon while testing early Meta-Real technology, resulting in a fifty-year coma. He now lives as an elderly man confined to a wheelchair but remains determined to uncover the truth behind the burning sea. His friend Eichiro Kushima intends to utilize the Meta-Real system, also referred to as the Metal, to conduct research into the mysterious phenomenon. This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between past trauma and future scientific understanding of the disaster that disrupted the construction project.
