During this time, Subaru learns from Emilia that Puck discovered her frozen in ice, and they lived in isolation until Roswaal promised to rescue her elf kin in the Royal Selection. Emilia has no memory prior to this event. Subaru summons Puck, who reveals that their contract suppresses Emilia’s memories. Deeming her no longer in need of him, Subaru breaks the contract, causing Puck to vanish. Grief-stricken, Emilia flees, prompting the Ingram Villagers and Garfiel to search for her. Garfiel suspects Subaru’s hidden plans before encountering Otto. Meanwhile, Emilia hides at the ruins, where Subaru eventually confronts her.
