A glowing object descends from the sky, identified as the Pearl Jade, capable of fulfilling any desire. Dr. Ni informs Gyokumen Koushu about it, but Lirin overhears the conversation and relays the information to Kougaiji. Kanzeon Bosatsu, also known as The Merciful Goddess, then gives Sanzo and his companions a mission: locate the Pearl Jade and secure it to prevent it from being misused.
