SHAREDOL

A collaboration between two proposals from young producers at Toei Animation and Sotsu, the project combines a modern young man who time leaps into a blended Edo and near-future world with an idol traveling back to the Edo period. The resulting pilot film centers on the Kansei era (1789–1800), a time of strict entertainment controls. The story explores the concept of using modern idol knowledge to shape Edo-era girls into performers. The protagonist supports six girls from diverse backgrounds—teahouse worker, samurai, Dutch trading house employee, merchant, high-ranking courtesan, and female ninja—each facing their own personal challenges.
