In 2060, the Organization of Emergency Affairs established the Bureau of Paranormal Defense to handle supernatural threats by selecting top agents globally. From this group, the most skilled were chosen to form the Phantom Squad. During a mission three years prior to recover a treasure, Captain Hao Yuan's trust led the squad into an ambush by Darrick's team, resulting in nearly all members being killed. Hao Yuan was also sabotaged and fell off a cliff. During the incident, he unintentionally absorbed the target treasure, the Stone of Immortality.
