Motoko’s worries regarding her father-in-law’s well-being are dismissed as excessive anxiety. Shortly thereafter, her husband and children become victims of the Shiki’s curse. Left alone to wander the blood-soaked streets amidst widespread panic, the traumatized widow begins to formulate a plan for revenge. The narrative focuses on her isolation and the subsequent shift from concern to a calculated desire for retribution following the loss of her immediate family members to the supernatural threat.
