Dr. Kranken poses as a shopkeeper and gives Rachel a heart to help her feel emotions, but his true goal is to awaken her dark side. Rachel eventually goes berserk, declaring she hates Joe, which leads to a showdown at a baseball field. Her evil side expresses anger and a desire to destroy the heart, yet Rachel overcomes this influence, stating she can act on impulse and wishes to be with Joe. She smashes the heart, sending it back to Dr. Kranken as a baseball hit by Joe’s home run swing. While Kranken wonders why his plan failed, Sprocket explains that the heart does not understand emotion. Meanwhile, Alastor remains focused solely on defeating Joe.
